I know there's all kinds of talk about Ubuntu going on here to solve
your problem. There is nothing wrong at all with Ubuntu, it's a very
good and stable distro. But if I may through in another suggestion, I
use SimplyMepis 6.5 (Currently RC1), and have converted a few people
over to Mepis who have had wireless issues with FC5, PCLinuxOS, etc and
every last one of them have gotten the wireless to work with just the
live CD.

It started out Debian based years ago, but it now uses the Ubuntu repos.
Mepis 6.5 is the most stable and best version of this distro that I've
seen yet. Just my two cents.
