Thanks to drinking a lot of Coke (thanks mycokerewards!) I got a free new
1GB thumb drive. I decided to try the Fedora 9 on a stick installer
thing (Lifehacker

and it worked, mostly. It took 2 hours to download the liveCD image, though
I blame Comcast more for that.

Unfortunately, F9 doesn't like the Vaio wireless out of the box, either. It
also doesn't seem to really like 1280x800 laptop resolution, something
Ubuntu doesn't mind.

Just thought I'd mention it.

(I did get wireless almost working thanks to Ben - up to a wlan0 device
being there! - but it's sporadic. More hammering at it will be necessary.)
