In an attempt to stimulate non-golf threads:
.. Has anybody done any really interesting Perl "hacks" that they are proud of? .. Does anyone have stories of replacing huge C/C++/Python etc programs with a Perl one-liner? .. Has Perl ever saved anyone's job? Their life? .. Has anyone ever persuaded their boss to let them "prototype" a large (C/C++...) job with Perl, and then just used the "prototype"? ..
