'Enabling authentication' is NOT something you can just do...your ISP  
has to support it, and if they do, you could probably already send e- 
mail through them when you're on the road.

This is the reason for the popularity of web-based e-mail clients.

Now if you have a gmail account, that IS authenticated, so you may be  
able to send mail through their SMTP server, but I'm not sure they  
send mail from another e-mail address even when authenticated.
