This could be a solution to your problem. I'm not sure about Apple Mail but I MacFreePops works with Thunderbird. It serves as an SMTP server. It will grab your Yahoo mail. You can then, as Bruce suggests, a Google account, just for SMTP. I've not done it but there is a program out there-name starts with 'e' that is in effect an SMTP server that you can set on a machine. It's for Linux though. Maybe it has been ported for OS X. I don't know.
