If the screen goes dark only at certain angles, the inverter cable is pinched or worn. If you dont get video out of the LCD, or only intermittently, but the video-out port works fine, then a bad inverter is likely the problem. If you dont get video out of either the LCD or video-out then its probably the BGA problem. When you say it over-heats, what happens ? It locks up ? Do you ever hear the fan running ?
