Hi. No Tiger runs superbly on a Lombard. I have had two Lombards running Tiger.
I made a modded DVD to get past the installer requirements. It actually doesn't look at your hardware, the installer has a list of machine IDs it wont install on called 'badmachines'. Simply edit the osinstall.mpkg, remove the line machines and it will install on any G3. I've used it on a Lombard and a tray loading 233mhz iMac with 96MB of RAM (now that was pushing it). It was my first time and took about 3 hours (ouch!). The results were disheartening. . .the new hard drive behaved just like the old one. It won't boot. It's beginning to appear as if the real problem is the IDE controller on the mobo (unless you guys have other ideas. . .). I took the 30 gig drive that I removed, and, just for fun, plugged it into a Lombard I am rebuilding. I was expecting to be told that it is incompatible with this computer because it is running Tiger 10.4.11. Lo and behold, it boots! I just did a Apple Software update with no problems. Is this a disaster waiting to happen or should this behave normally from now on? This is definitely not something I expected.
