No worries. [iPod after 3 years ... ] still lasts as long as the day I go it. Um, this is impossible, even with "optimal" use. Lithium based rechargable batteries have a finite lifetime. http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm The only piece of advice I would be inclined to ignore on that page is the calbration related part. If you follow a "charge only when required and use on battery power whenever possible" policy, this isn't going to be as essential. A full discharge is dangerous IMO. Fully discharging a lithium based battery will harm it. Most laptops and devices that use a charge indicator will cut out when the battery is at about 15% anyway, to "save" that battery. The danger of then not immediately charging is that the battery will dip below the dangerous low charge levels and be damaged permenently. Some batteries can be recovered by using an industrial charger when that happens, but most are toast. But, hey, maybe you're lucky? :-) M --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
