I think this is a drive issue, and not a problem with my Pismos, since both of them behave the same, and swapping the drives between machines doesn't change anything. I mostly use DVD+R blanks, and the Pismo drive usually can't read them. I've especially had trouble reading Imation and JVC DVD's, both of which are actually manufactured by Ritek. On the other hand, the one Verbatim DVD+R disc I tried was no trouble for either drive. Both drives are the same model. One Imation movie DVD would paly, and several others wouldn't.
Is there a firmware update, or is there another (probably newer) drive that I could replace it with in order to be able to read more DVD's? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
