I hadn't dealt with swapping laptop drives until recently, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that once I put the plastic sides on the G4 Powerbook's combo drive, I could use it in a Pismo and read DVD's that the original drive wouldn't read. It wasn't upside down after all. (I hadn't realized that underneath the different plastic screw-on pieces was the same essential form factor.)
I had removed my original post because I was discovering for myself what Simon had written, so my original comments were being superceded rather quickly. The only problem I have left is getting a bezel for the drive that fits the Pismo. The original bezel is too loose now, and it's metal and protrudes from the Pismo, so it's at risk of falling off or scratching something. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
