Connect to the Internet via ethernet cable, then go to Software Update in Control Panel (click on Apple in upper left corner first). You may need to fiddle with TCP/IP settings a few times to get connected. You probably need to select Ethernet and DHCP, then save settings, and wait a minute or so for your router to recognize the iBook. Keep running Software Update until there are no more updates necessary.
The Firmware Update will download to your desktop as part of the updates. Click on it and follow instructions. Once the firmware is updated, run Software Update one more time to make sure you've gotten everything from Apple.
