Some of your may recall this story. In case you don't here is what
I've done and the output. When you're done reading, discard and move
to "LATEST" below:

Put an install disc to try and boot from it. Result: Grey screen. Disk
stuck; won't eject.
I have done NVRAM and PRAM resets. Result: Same
I have reset the Power manager. Result: Same
I have taken the battery out and start with the power supply. Result:
Same
I have taken the HD out, put it in a USB and ran it off my Pismo. I
ran Onyx and DiskWarrior. Diskwarrior fixed a bunch of stuff. I'm
sorry I did not save the output from it. I installed the HD again and
started. Result: Same.
I cried.
I grab another HD. An 80GB HD and started (OS X 10.4 disc is in the
drive, stuck really-I can't get that out-and then I started it.
Result: Disc spinned as it usually did but grey screen.

            ****LATEST*****
I got an external Firewire case from LEM, installed the HD on this
laptop in it, and boot up while pressing T. And what do you know, it
booted up nicely WITHOUT any problems. I even went ahead and upgrade.
It was sweet to see after so many months.

QUESTION:
Would replacing the HD cable fix this? Or, could it be a problem on
the motherboard itself--alongside where the HD cable is? Has anyone
had this problem and sorted it out by replacing the HD cable? I simply
don't want to spend more money than I've already done; if I don't have
to.
Thanks to all those who helped, especially, Kris T.
