Don't get NewerTech/OWC batteries for Wallstreet. Out of three batteries they sent me, two were DOA, the third one didn't last 12 months. Meanwhile a local supplier here in Australia sent me three batteries costing half as much, which outspec'ed the NewerTech ones, and have performed without hitch since new ( one in Nov 2006, two more in mid 2007). I get about 3hrs 20min out of them. The issue with Li-ion batteries is date of manufacture. One rough gauge of the age is the mAH rating of the battery. As battery technology has been steadily improving, the higher-spec'ed batteries will generally have been manufactured more recently. My NewerTech batteries which expired so quickly had a full charge capacity of 4625 mAH. Two of locally supplied "2-Power" batteries were rated 4800 mAH. The third one 5400 mAH. Concerning battery rebuilds, perhaps following refs may help: http://www.electronics-lab.com/articles/Li_Ion_reconstruct/index.html http://www.wwc.edu/~frohro/Powerbook/Pismo/Battery/ >Based on a tip in yesterday's Miscellaneous Ramblings Mailbag <http:// >lowendmac.com/misc/09mr/mb0513.html#4> I've ordered an original >AirPort Hub from eBay for $15 shipped. AFAIK this is mostly a problem with 300MHz PDQ. My second Wallstreet (300MHz PDQ) runs a bit hot with only 384MB installed. Tiger runs better than Panther, but only if it has plenty of room to move. My current installation of Tiger (X.4.11) is getting cramped on a 20GB partition. >If anyone has some WallStreet/PDQ RAM (128 MB or 512 MB modules) or a >5400 rpm hard drive (8 GB or larger), please contact me directly. > >Thanks! > >Dan Knight, LowEndMac.com hth..
