I'm in the process of upgrading my 266 MHz WallStreet to 512 MB of RAM and adding a 20 GB TravelStar hard drive. I've read the warnings: If you don't magnetically shield the end of the drive, your WallStreet may not wake from sleep when you open the lid.
The generally recommended solution is a piece of 0.04mm brass approximately 1/2" to 5/8" by 2" to 2-1/8" taped to the top of the drive caddy. I've also seen recommendations for adhesive foil tape, which can be wrapped around the end of the drive. One person even suggests to layers of mylar, which has no magnetic properties but perhaps adds sufficient space to weaken the magenetic field to the "closed lid" sensor will work. Looking for feedback from anyone who has succesfully dealt with this issue so I don't go out and buy the wrong thing. Thanks in advance!
