I was having trouble with my Wallstreet failing to wake from sleep after upgrade to a 120GB Hitachi Travelstar. I tried shielding the drive, but no benefit. I discovered the sleep problem went away if I booted from an expansion-bay disk instead of the internal drive. This indicated a physical cause such as magnetism could not be the problem. In the end, I fixed the problem by enabling backside cache "write-through" in XLR8-MACh Speed Control. I don't know if this would apply to other Wallstreets. My machine has been upgraded with a PowerLogix G4-500MHz CPU. OS-X versions from X.2.3 to X.4.9 ran successfully using the freeware CPU Director from PowerLogix. Development of CPU Director ceased in 2008 with no support for X.4.10 and later. In order to run X.4.11, I bought Daystar's XLR8-MACh Speed Control. It has done the job with no drama, apart from the above glitch when I replaced the hard drive. Previously I have installed Travelstar 20GB, 60GB and 80GB drives in this computer without problem. If I remember correctly, there was no problem running these drives with write-through disabled, using PowerLogix CPU Director. However, this would have applied only to X.4.9 and earlier. hth..
