Spinpoints work well in Wallstreets, but certain firmware revisions
of Spinpoints will not work in Lombards or in Pismos.

The problem is with the Spinpoint and with the Apple.

An affected Spinpoint cannot properly "negotiate" its preferred ATA
level with a Lombard or a Pismo.

There are flaws in the firmware of both the Apple (never fixed, BTW)
and with the Spinpoint (this was eventually fixed).

I was forced to return a number of Spinpoints because of the flaw in
Lombards and Pismos (since taken out of service).

The "fix" was one particular series of IBM Travelstars, the 5K80, I
think.
