Sorry! Hit 'send' too soon!

Just to be clear on this. I don't object to a developer choosing to not
support 10.4 or G3s. I've had a nice long run with my Macs, and don't
choose to update to newer hardware at this time. Any issues with
hardware incompatibility due to adding of new features or upgrading the
software to a new OS version are fine with me, as long as I am told
ahead of time that my hardware or OS version is dropped.

My concern is especially with auto-updates that report that a bugfix is
available, and (in this case) 10.6 compatibility is added, ask if I
would like to update, and then go ahead and overwrite the application
with one that is incompatible with my CPU. In my opinion, that really
shouldn't happen!

The two examples that I ran into have both been resolved. The developer
of Mailsmith has a new beta out that includes G3 compatibility. The
other, CTM Development, publishers of PowerMail, fixed the problem in
their final v6.0.3 release.
