In a few years your Macs will be where 68K were long ago, and OS 9 is now: no new updates, stuff is increasingly breaking, and many now things are simply unavailable. By now Apple has sold (or will sell in the fairly near future) more Intel-based Macs than they ever did PPC-based ones, certainly more than they have the G-series....the Intel-based Macs have been a gigantic hit for them. Last quarter they sold more macs in a quarter than they ever have, period. The switch to Intel, combined with Microsoft's disastrous Vista introduction has brought a flood of new Mac owners to Apple. I'd wager the installed base is now more intel than PPC. I know this for a fact where I work...most of the new growth in the Mac adoption has been driven by people switching from Windows, and in the time I've been here the number of Macs in the college has risen from 2 to about 75, which doesn't count the students, and macs are growing in number there, too. For our wireless we require the students to email us their MAC addresses; the number of emails specifying 'my airport address' has skyrocketed. -- Bruce Johnson "Wherever you go, there you are" B.
