Thanks for the info. I like this machine and it really does what it was meant to do, but it's fun to upgrade Macs if you have some stuff laying around. I was a gift from my Dr so I'll go as far as I can. I'm pretty sure watching DVDs is out but it plays CDs and runs QuickBooks and Quicken like the big kids. And it looks cool in one of my offices

Some will run OS X cleanly, others won't run it at all, and still others will run it but with varying degrees of success. I would check places like Applefritter and other hobbyist sites and look in their project sections. I never fail to be amazed when I see people doing things with their machines that the conventional wisdom has long held could not be done. You may still find out that what you want to do is impossible or too difficult to be worth the effort, but you'll learn a lot in the search and that alone may make the searching worthwhile.
