If you use the HiCap software, you CANNOT boot from OS 9.
This is wrong, you CAN boot OS 9 fine.
I have a Beige G3 using the HiCap software on a 160 GB HD that's
partitioned with three partitions:
1)Exact 1st 8 GB
2)Exact 128 GB
3)Remaining 22 GB
I boot OS 9 from the last 22 GB partition, which is beyond the 128 GB
limit.
The caveat for using OS 9 is that the HD needs to be initialized using
Intech Speedtools 3.5 for OS 9 which eliminates any HD capacity issues
in OS 9.
