I don't think there's a "best" one--I've used HPs, Canons, Oki, and at work, even commercial-size lasers with my G4 PB with Tiger. What's needed in most cases is the driver from the printer company, some are built into the OS. I personally have a Canon mult unit--can't do scanning with it, but it does a good job printing and faxing. I will be honest here--it took a bit to get the driver configured to use over my home network, but once I got it, it's been working well.
