I'll second the Brother recommendation, although my own printer is a
1994 HP Laserjet 4M that's still grinding out the pages all these
years later.
All I've ever done to it is replace the rear roller assembly (About
$29 and an hour of my time) and feed it toner carts. (Office Depot
sells their own brand for about $75, at my printing rate that lasts me
a year or more.)
