Hi Sheryl Maybe I'm biased towards Pismos because of my good experiences with mine but it may well be that your Wallstreet floppy and zip drives will not work in a Pismo. (I assume they're modules that you fit inside the Wallstreet. If they're external USB devices, they'll work with any mac with a USB port, including your iMac.) See here for info on Pismos: 400MHz: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g3/stats/powerbook_g3_400_fw.html 500MHz: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g3/stats/powerbook_g3_500_fw.html
So if your drive(s) still work(s), and you want to spend minimum cash, then probably Wallstreet is the way to go. Also you're familiar with them! (The caveat here is that if you want to use OSX 10·4/Tiger, you'll need XPostFacto to install it.) However, I'm very happy to - try installing my Quark 7·31 on my Pismo. (If it will work on Pismo running OSX 10·4/Tiger, then I'm pretty sure it will work on a Wallstreet running the same OS. I can't speak for earlier versions of OSX in this case.) - because you say your tax submission needs to be done very soon, I'm happy to convert your Quark data into something you can use right now, while the Quark/InDesign/which_laptop issues are being resolved. I'd suggest that converting the files into PDFs is the way forward just now, because PDFs can be read by just about any computer, even your library's PCs. (I'd be highly surprised if the library's PCs didn't have Acrobat/Adobe Reader. As far as I know, any mac running version of OSX will have Preview, which is Apple's PDF-reader software.) In both Preview and Adobe/Acrobat Reader, it's no problem to copy text and paste it into something else. hope this is helpful Bruce On 22 Feb 2010, at 23:46, Sheryl Birkhead wrote: > > Okay, maybe I am going at the Wallstreet hunt the wrong way.
