Run the iBook in ³T² target disc mode and when you get the option to initalize the disc do it and then you will be good to go if the HD is functional. After that you should be able to install any OS you wish other than Snow Leopard which won¹t run on your iBook. I have the same iBook (14.5²) and find running Tiger with RAM maxed out works the best for me.
