It's not free, but MobileMe will work like a charm for that. His secretary can log in via the web on any computer, and he'll get updates on his mac or iPhone wherever he is. This is how the Dean of the College here does it, and he's ALWAYS on the road. He and his assistant use his Mobile Me calendar and stuff is always updated both ways, because they're both adding things to the calendar.

Google calendar will work for this as well.
