Hi All...

I recently dug out my Wallstreet G3/266 to play with.... I have a CD of
retro arcade games that started calling to me. ;-) Still works great with
one problem... the battery!

The battery is there and locked into place but battery status shows a red
³X². I¹m thinking about getting a new battery but I have a question.
My battery went missing overnight. One morning the status showed ~2.5 hours
and performance seemed to prove this to be true. That evening I replaced the
4GB HD with a ³massive² 10GB beast. Reinstalled the OS and shut down for the
night. Started up the next morning and I ³had no battery²!?

Can a battery go from 2.5 hours capacity to non-existent overnight? I
vaguely recall from somewhere that it might possible to disconnect the
powerboard connection when replacing a hard drive. Looking at iFixit I don¹t
see how that could be done. Could I have damaged the charging circuitry
doing the drive replacement. Replacing the drive is the only time I¹ve ever
had the case open.

I don¹t absolutely have to have the battery to play games, but I¹m kind of
the mind-set ³If the thing is there, it had better damn work!²

Appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Many thanks,

Amanda
