Can a battery go from 2.5 hours capacity to non-existent overnight?
Try running the Apple Powerbook battery reset utility. The Wallstreet (I can't bring myself to say Wally, as that is common British slang for "idiot") notoriously has issues with its batteries forgetting they are capable of being charged. I've used the utility twice to recover the same battery and regain a 2+ hour charge from a supposedly dead one.
