Hi All, Looking at the replies, it appears I did not explain the question
correctly.

I already KNOW that the Wallstreet has the right connections and will
work with that printer (and DOES, should I ever manage to resurrect the
Wallstreet!).  I was trying to figure out what other models have this same
port.  This means I need to know what it is called so I can look at specs.  HP
flat out told me I was wrong-no such thing...when I had the printer in front of
me.  I was trying to get THEM to tell me what it was called. Apple had no
suggestion either.

No- what I mean is the printer cable going to the Mac had the 8 pin part--the
cable is built in to the printer--not a cable I can detatch guess I am just not
clear!! Sorry.

Does not appear to be a serial port- at least not when I google that and look
at the images--this is ROUND not rectangular/oblong.... I have had serial ports
for other purposes and this is NOT the same thing--just round and coming in
various pin numbers- this is 8.  If this IS a serial plug, then they must go
from almost rectangular to totally round?????

It's an HP 2100M.

Now to go google and look to see what options I have for other models that
would connect.

Checking specs with LowendMac
For Wallstreet it says--serial: 1 DIN-8 RS-422 port on back of computer
For Lombard it says:SCSI: HDI30 connector on back of computer
For Pismo there is no mention of either.

Now to see what an HDI30 looks like --is it round or oblong???
Nope-definitely oblong and not round- it is what I am USED to calling SCSI.

Um- Googling AppleTalk Port and hunting around- nothing as far as a port is
concerned so now I guess it must be serial....

If I cannot find something that reliably is the "right" port, I will have to
check every model to see what others have this specific type- anyone have any
idea less labor intensive?

Sheryl
