I'm a novice w/ a capital N but can learn and am looking for advice! Was given a Lombard in pristine, newly set-up, never used condition when it was the spiffiest thing on the Apple offering. And promptly packed it way until yesterday. Long story, huge oversight.
Would like to give it to my mum to learn the ways of laptops but it needs some updating: Just ordered a new battery. Has a DVD-rom but no IDVD program. Has 10.2 currently OSX. I read on lowendmac that OSX doesn't support the Lombard DVD and that I should boot earlier OS. Anyone can confirm or educate me? SCSI card is what I need for wifi, right? Or will a new, 32 bit (Card Bus?) provide faster connection? But I need 10.4 for Airport express to recognize. Any thoughts or help would be hugely appreciated! The Apple tech today gave such a brush-off that I couldn't help but think he just wanted me to buy new. But I love the tactile feel of this computer and think in it's simple, update form could be a great laptop. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Books, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
