Jess,

Congratulations on your "new" Lombard!

DVD support depends on what model you got. There are two models, the
333Mhz and the 400Mhz. The 333Mhz needs a DVD decoder card which only
works in OS 9, but the 400Mhz has built-in DVD support, both in OS 9
and OS X.

You need a PC/Cardbus card for wifi. There are several choices, using
either the Airport Extreme software or third-party drivers. I think OS
10.3 "Panther" already supports Airport Extreme, but of course it will
be preferable to upgrade it to OS 10.4.11 "Tiger" (which will require
some tinkering). You will also need all the RAM you can get --at least
256Mb, 512Mb your best choice.

Anything else, just ask.

Best,

Felix

P.S. Yes, Apple techs will want you to buy new, and sometimes don't
even know squat about older machines, so the brushoff may also have
intended to hide his/her ignorance.
