Is there a way to prevent OSX from writing hidden files to removable devices?

It's a mild annoyance when I plug a USB drive into a windows machine
but it really confuses my MP3 player which actually crashes if I try
to play one of the formerly hidden files.
I can scroll past all the ._ files, is there a better solution?
Anyway can anyone suggest some terminal command magic to train the OS
to omit the hidden files?

Thanks
