Hello,

Is it just my faulty memory, or were IBM Travelstar drives prone to
early failure way-back-when?

I could have -sworn- Travelstars were problem-plagued drives, but
can't seem to find anything online to support this. I'm fairly
positive that the Deskstar HDs of the time (~turn of the century) were
pretty horrendous, but maybe the Travelstars were fairly angst-free
and I just have the two somewhat similar names confused in my tiny
little mind?

Perhaps it was only the early IBM-branded Travelstars that gave
trouble, and the reliability improved when Hitachi took over
Travelstar production? I'm afraid I'm drawing a blank here...

Would someone be kind enough to set me straight?

Best,

James Fraser
