My beloved Pismo has come to be my nightstand machine. It has been there for a couple of years now --although sometimes it goes places with me and does real work. I basically read the news, play games, and watch movies on it. It usually stays open on a stand, but sometimes I close the lid to give the hinges a break.
Last week I closed it twice. The first time, it gave me a kernel panic when it opened, and I had to restart it. The second, it just turned off by itself, and had also to be restarted. Both times, the screen looked weird when first turned on --like a fine net of dots--, before going back to normal. I have not closed it again, and it seems to be doing fine for now. Has this happened to anybody before? What could be the cause? TIA, Felix P.S. This is a 500Mhz model with a gig of RAM and a 100GB HDD. It runs mostly 10.4.11, but I occasionally boot on 9.2.2 to play some games and enjoy Classilla. The screen has been showing the usual pink discolorations for a while now, which are getting very slowly worse. But I never had a kernel panic before on this machine.
