This last week or so itunes has decided to play only one item from the library or the playlist. I used to be able to select a playlist, double click item one and it played the whole list. Now it will only play the item clicked, even when a playlist or the library is selected. I have thrown out all the preferences and had itunes rebuild and reimport all the items.
Any ideas?

How many items in the playlist are checked?

No items are checked - none have ever been.
I simply double-clicked a song and iTunes would roll through the library or playlist until I stopped it.

I thought about this last night and figured it may be controlled by check marks but I have never previously needed to do this. How would I check/uncheck a group, say a particular album, all as once - I cannot see a menu item to do this. So far as I can see I am stuck with clicking each item on/off individually.

Also, I cannot think of any changes/updates made recently - probably not since Safari 4.1.3.
The change in behaviour remains a mystery.

Well, I am using iTunes 9 with MACOS 10.4.11 on this machine. I don't use it much, but as near as I can figure out from the rather obtuse "Help" file, "unchecking" a song prevents it from being played. For more "control" you can use the button bar at the lower left of the window.

Ken, thanks for that - I'll settle for command-click in a check box. This selects/deselects a complete playlist.
I can get along with that.
Meanwhile, I'm on iTunes 8 so I'll get downloading.
