Yes, ditch any card that requires kext editing or drivers. Grab a card
that works out of the box, like the WN825 or Dell 1300.
Check out my article on the matter.

Hi,
I came to this group last year, seeking help updating this hardly-
used, 400mhz Bronze Lombard. It was my hope to get the wireless & DVD
to work. Give my mom something to learn on.
After one round w/ a local Mac specific person, I find these things
still unresolved and I'm a novice, a bit stumped.
What it has currently:
OS X 10.4.11
It shows 384 RAM but it supposedly has 512 but for some reason reports
384
Currently has a Netgear 802.11B PC card for wifi (MA401RA) - no longer
supported by Netgear
IOxperts wifi driver for Netgear card
OK -- so, the wifi router I hoped this would connect w/ is an
802.11G. The "genius bar" people claim this laptop is 5ghz signal. I
can get it to connect wirelessly at the Mac store, to their 5ghz
specific signal BUT never anywhere else. Not to my airport express N
generation at home.
Based on earlier discussions here, would a Broadcom chip PC card,
maybe the Motorola WN825G, be the most straight-forward solution?
