One tiny little ribbon cable for both the keyboard & trackpad. I'd open it up and re-seat that ribbon cable. I don't think this is a logicboard failure. I've noticed a similar situation sometimes in specific applications, for example, I have an Intel Mac running Tiger 10.7.2 and I use Google Chrome Beta browser. Sometimes Chrome will stop responding to keyboard inputs, but if I quit Chrome and restart it, keyboard comes back again. Have you definitely determined this is a global System issue and not a specific application issue?
