Well, I read that there is a point somewhere in the G4 PowerBook line that they *might* have transitioned to USB, but ADB was still used for at least the PMU from what I can tell. It shocks a lot of long time Mac users when they realise that Apple only removed the external ADB connector, not the capability! So, anyway, my point was - is this an internally ADB based PowerBook? That might be one reason why USB works differently here. Corrupt driver? Hardware fail? Might also be the connection. ADB is just a serial protocol, so I guess it was cheap and simple to implement. I'm pretty sure, when Apple *did* start using USB internally, they routed the keyboard and trackpad through the *same* USB hub (erm, is that the correct term?) as the external ports, so you'd kind of expect a global USB failure to be present. So, if it is internally USB, the only other think I can think of, past what has already been suggested, is that the actual keyboard/trackpad device might be having an issue as a USB HID? Is it a self contained unit, or is some of the device broken out on to the main logic board?
