One last thought, since Leopard is a complete universal build, you can install 
Leopard from an Intel Mac, or any Mac that will boot Leopard, and have a PPC 
bootable System. It might be worthwhile to install Leopard onto the SSD using 
an Intel Mac (you might have to try both Apple Partition Format and if it 
fails, try GUID next). If you only "install" without reboot, you can complete 
the setup on the PPC PowerBook if it boots...
