UPDATE:

After well over an hour spent with OWC tech support a week ago, I ended up
sending both SSD drives back to exchange them. Each person I dealt with at
OWC told me something different for my systems and initial suggestions
seemed to gravitate toward intel solutions even though I clearly indicated
I was using PPC Macs.

I don't know why the Mercury Legacy Pro drive would not be seen by any PPC
mac I tried but was visible on Intel Macs. I tried FAT, GUID, Apple
Partition Map options, various other suggestions, but only the Intel would
see the SSD. OWC tech support said to send the drive back. My Powerbook
G4 continues to work fine with it's WD ATA drive and an older one that I
tried.

For my Dual G5, I bought a drive OWC recommended which was the Mercury Pro
6G. Similar results to the legacy drive BUT, the G5 would see it ONLY if
it were attached in an external enclosure. Then they say I need a PCI-e
card for internal use and booting. Well the Sonnet card would let me see
the drive internally, great, but not boot from it, not great. Eventually,
I discover there is no way to boot from the sonnet card on PPC macs, only
Intel. OWC initially pointed me to Intel solutions and also said to check
with Sonnet. Sonnet confirmed that I would not be able to boot from their
Tempo card on a PPC mac. Finally, the latest OWC tech I dealt with said
you need to use the Mercury Pro 3G to do what you want on a G5, not the
6G.

I'm hoping the new/different/correct SSDs will work for my Macs. So far,
my OWC experience has been a very frustrating one. Especially since I
asked specific questions about compatibility before purchasing.
