This is the agreement off the Stout site for the laptop lease at $500 each semester:
The University agrees to assign for use, with no transfer of ownership, to the Student a fully configured Compaq laptop computer or Macintosh iBook laptop computer, including batteries (two with Compaqs and one with Macintoshes), cords, carrying cases and other appropriate accessories (hereinafter referred to as "the computer"). The brand of computer provided will be determined by the University based on the Student's major. The Student will retain possession of the computer throughout the calendar year until the University's lease on the particular computer expires, at which time it will be replaced by another computer, or until the Student is no longer enrolled at the University. Freshmen in most of UW-Stouts programs will receive high performance Compaq computers loaded with software. Yes, you can bring your own computer to campus; however, you will use the laptop provided by the university for your academic work. We do recommend that you bring a printer with you to campus. I can't wait to get this High performance Compaq computer, which need two batteries to match the one battery in the Apple iBook which will cost me $4,000. It must be a great deal nicer than any Compaq Laptop I have ever seen. Tom -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
