I don't use Office but my wife does at work and she says its slow.  I 
have that same printer and it only slows way down when you print a photo 
at the best setting.  For normal documents it is pretty spiffy, much 
faster than my newer photosmart 1115.  I've used it with my Wallstreet 
II (266mhz/192mb) and it worked fine, spitting out almost 8 pages of 
double spaced text in a minute.

Have you updated the drivers?  The latest versions are available for 
download at hp.com.  Does it print just as slow when printing from other 
programs?  If you're running OS9 or earlier increase the memory 
allocated to Office 98.  Turn off virtual memory if you are using it, 
especially if her hard drive is full, that may make a difference.
