Bob,
Yes, only the Lombard model has a 333MHz processor.
I'd suggest you run Apple System Profiler and check that the cache memory is being
recognized. A number of Lombard owners have had problems with cache failures, which
would cause slowdowns.
I think it's more likely your HD is almost full? If you have virtual memory enabled in
the Memory control panel (it's on by default in OS9), and you have little free HD
space remaining (less than, say, 300MB), you could be running into a problem with the
HD being overtaxed due to swapping memory contents back and forth - this is especially
noticeable when using MS Word, in my experience. If this is the case, do some HD
pruning, and try again. If you have plenty of HD space, then try increasing the memory
allotment for MS Word ('Get Info' on the Word application icon, and increase the
memory allocations). Again, this assumes OS9 operation, which it sounds like you're
using.
As to the max RAM that can be installed on these machines, I have run my Lombard with
a maximum of 512MB RAM for months now, will no problems (256MB in both upper and lower
slots). As chip densities improve, many machines can run with larger total memory
allotments than originally envisioned by the manufacturer. I do believe, though that
512MB is the maximum memory amount that these machines can address. HTH.

Sometmes it takes literaly 10 to 15 minutes to print a simple 1 page letter from Word
98.
We have defraged the hardrive, rebuilt the desk top, and installed a total of 192 MB
RAM. She uses an HP 935c printer that was new. We have tried reinstalling the
software, but still is really slow. According to the lowendmac site we can install up
to 384 MN RAM, when we had the ram installed for us we were told it was maxed at 192.
So this is why I wonder about what machine we really have. Would appreciate some
simple help here.
I understand that their is a number of models of this computer.
Here are the numbers on what we ordered from Apple.
PBG3 14.1T/333/64/4G/CD/E/56K
Serial No. QT92818XEXW
I believe that this is called the Lombard. According to a printout
off the Lowendmac. site.
Can anyone tell from the numbers above if this is a true Lombard Model?
Thank You
Bob Johnson
