This is great. I should have joined this list months ago (like,
before I trashed my Ti book!?)

A question: what's a "wallstreet"?

Dustin, I'll to try booting from the OS9 disk (I tried to boot from
the Norton Disk and it wouldn't take it. I have had ongoing trouble
with the CD drive on this, even before this problem.) and the pram.
Will try that tomorrow, I've retired the laptop for the night (after
copying all files onto my G4 just in case).

Otherwise, sounds like a call to apple will be the way to go. I'm
actually glad to hear that it can be sent in to them, I do not want
to let these local guys get their fingers into this.

Norm, I have cracks in my case also... maybe that could be fixed too,
and that cd drive problem... maybe I'll end up better off in the end
(and poorer :-)! While on the subject of cracks, I was sure
disappointed to find them especially with this being a "titanium" and
portable device.

I have not figured out how to search the archives of the list yet, so
maybe this has also been covered already, but I have gone through TWO
power cords in the year and a half that I have had my laptop. Both
times the cord split and frayed right at the plug connection to the
laptop. Again, so much for durable and/or portable. The first time I
replaced under warranty, the second time (now) I have rigged up a
nice little ugly fix with electric tape.

I'm not under warranty, I debated about the apple care, it was so
expensive I decided not to. Second thoughts now...

However, despite the cracks and cord and cd drive (and the inability
to handle being doused) I still sing the praises of this little
machine.

Susan
