hi Ryan
Are you using OS9 or OSX? It could be a software problem (hopefully).
Im using 9.2.2 but theres also a SuSE Linux 7.1 on the disc and when I tried this it gave me errors for the sound startup, staying quiet.
Later now I run SuSE with sound on the phones as well as on the speakers, ok, moving the screen -> the sound disappears.. At least there is one thing that seems to show an interaction with the Software: Most often the sound disappears, by switching to headphones.. (which BTW stay as quiet as the built in speakers (In generell phones will work)) it requires me to move the screen, vibrate a little, lightly knock or press somewhere on the Pismos housing to switch back to internal speakers. But even when Sound Control then tells me Sound Out would go to the internal speakers again, I first have to reset the Sound IN (..hmm..??) before anything but crackle, noise or silence comes out of the speakers.. On the other hand: Just only manipulating Sound Control without mechanical interaction doesnt seem to work. So far for MacOS 9.2.2 (..under Linux the sound maybe will be here again after the next reboot) This all seems to me mostly being a Problem of some bad contacts.. 1. bend contacts inside the Sound connectors ? -> ..moving the screen wouldnt affect anything inside these.. 2. bad, cold, broken soldered joints? 3. Maybe a failure of the inner connection of the sound card to Mobo ? 4. Or worst case: a broken sound card... I guess Point 1 - 3 are more likely than Point 4, because the powers that work on the card by plugging in and out of the power connector and the sound plugs, wont break / crack a whole board.!? So I guess further I will have to take the card out again, and carefully examine it.. I would appreciate for any further advices in that ! greetings Jochen -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
