I think MacPOET uses the PPP driver (which might cause a problem with 
OS9 as the PPP control panel is replaced by the Remote Access control 
panel).  OS9 works quite well with Broadband, it's just the 
abomination known as PPPoE that is a problem.  It adds software, 
reduces bandwidth, causes problems and it's only there to make the 
ISP's life easier.  One reason I went with a static IP address.

I found the router method worked when I couldn't get PPPoE working 
with IPNetRouter.  I was pretty sure I could have gotten IPNR to work 
it just would have taken awhile and that would have cost the client 
more than the router.
