> > Sigh, my dvd drive had to be replaced and under AppleCare, they sent me > another LG :( > So far so good...but AppleCare is expired. Actually, I think it _is_ a problem with the brand of drive. My LG has failed twice, and both times it has been replaced by a LG. Once my Battery died at the same time. At least I have Applecare till Jan. '03. You can try and beg for a Matsushita (or Matshita) SR-8174, but I tried from the Applecare-Europe folks and they wouldn't do it. I am going to go to an applestore with a printed list in my hand of how many times the battery and LG drive has been replaced on my book. Apple thinks they are saving money by not replacing my motherboard, but I think that might be the only cure to the problem. I have also heard success at using a PC DVD/CD-R in the old casing of the failed drive. I could find the web info (http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/) if anyone wants it.
