The silly thing is it would only take two (perhaps three) "lines" (blocks) of code in the energy saver app to enable "screensaver is activated on sleep" functionality. #1 check to see if that preference is set in the energy saver preference file, #2 activate screensaver app, #3 wait until screensaver returns signal saying "I'm alive" and then continue with remaining energy saver code.
