James, I have used the 2200 Toshiba in my home and it also ran lemlists.com (and many other sites) for quite some time. Usually downtime and problems are not hte fault of the cablemodem and are caused by either hardware failures on the ISP's end or environmental factors.
Side note on that: Early in my official running of my hosting business Minneapolis (and the Twin Cities) were hit by 5 freak thunder storms in one week. This was in July of last year. It fried out 95% of my cable modem, and was only leasing me two IPs. However I was still running online without much of a problem. This is usually the worst thing that happens. But if I were you, I would keep a tech there, or on the phone if you are doing the install yourself, to make sure that your modem is downloading at the right speed. Most ISPs (like RoadRunner) have a 10MB text file for you to download to check your speeds out. -- Ryan Coleman System Administrator LEMLists.com/CobWebPublishing http://www.lemlists.com/ -- This message was sent via the LEMLists.com WebMail service -- ---------- Original Message ----------- From: James Rohde <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (G-Books) Sent: Thu, 27 Mar 2003 13:12:55 -0600 Subject: Cable Modem question > Hi all, > > I'm debating about going to cable modem (DSL in our part of Missouri > isn't much of an option, and SBC/Southwestern Bell's DSL service is > marginal, from friends I've checked with).
