My Yo-Yo adapter for my Pismo 400 (purchased new right after the first TiBooks came out) died about five months ago (and I was ALWAYS very careful with it). Since that time, I have been using the adapter from my old 1400c/166 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It charges (what's left) of the battery, doesn't run warm and basically provides exactly the same behavior as the Yo-Yo did.
An Apple tech told me the adapter would work just fine, at it appears to be doing so.
Sincerely,
Scott
I purchased a Pismo 400 on ebay last Christmas. A couple of months ago my Yo-Yo adapter died (blue sparking in the cable first). I called Apple to purchase a replacement and they sent me a new one free of charge (he mentioned something about it being a fire hazard). No applecare and as I said, I bought it used.
Although later my power cord had the same problem with sparks and dying and I had to purchase that...
Give it a try, I had the new adapter 2 days later. Also the new cord seems to be more sturdy.
