Hello all,

This is my first query to this group, though I've been on the powercomputing
list for a while. Thanks in advance for any advice you might offer.

Just got a G3 Lombard via ebay (no manual), & plugged it in to check it out
and discovered that the battery indicator next to the clock has an red X
through it and on the control panel strip, when I click on the battery icon,
the options are grayed out.

I unplugged it to see if the battery indicator would appear and the unit
turned off and reset to 1904

Q 1. Does this mean no battery or dead battery?

Q2. How much memory do you suggest and and where to get it?

The Lombard currently has 64 K ram running on OS 8.6.

I expect to move to Jaguar and I run Word, Excel, Filemaker, Palm, Outlook
Express and Explorer simultaneously.

Eventually I guess I'll need to max out the RAM (512?) but for now I would
prefer to try to "get by" with one 256 chip due to cost.

Do I understand correctly that for 512 I'll need both a low and high profile
chip if I add both? As the high profile is less expensive is there any
reason I should not get that now and the low profile later? I could stretch
and get both now if there was a good reason to but would prefer not to have
to.

Any advice on the battery icon, where to get memory and how much I'll need?

Thanks,

Ely
